With the Yves Wall Sconce, designer Ian Thornton was playing around with geometric shapes inspired by the famed painter Piet Mondrian. But he wanted a more serious color palette than the one for which the artist was widely known, so he chose a mix of finishes that include contemporary gold leaf, contemporary silver leaf, copper leaf, and sugar white for the rectangular panels, all connected by linear crosshatches in satin black. The precision it takes to make wrought iron look so artful is a skill our designers and artisans know well.
